Biography

Richard F. Wallman retired in 2003 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Honeywell International, a diversified industrial technology company, after a distinguished career that also included senior financial roles at IBM, where he served as Controller, and Chrysler Corporation. He began his career with the Ford Motor Company. Richard earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he was honored in 2025 with the school’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

Richard has also brought his financial acumen and strategic judgment to corporate governance, serving on 32 for-profit boards over the course of his career. His governance work has also extended to higher education. He currently serves as a member of the University of Chicago’s Board of Trustees, and he previously served on the boards of University of Virginia’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and Vanderbilt University’s College of Arts and Science.

Richard and his wife Amy, MBA ’75, are among the nation’s most generous philanthropists, having been named to the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s “Philanthropy 50” in both 2017 and 2023.
