Biography
A native Texan, Matt began his undergraduate career at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and finished it back in Texas at SMU (2010) before earning his MA in English (2012) and PhD in Literature (2017) from the University of Dallas (UD) with a dissertation on Chaucer and the Pearl-poet. After a few years of teaching undergrads in North Dakota everything from Composition and Grammar to the History of the English Language and World Literature, he now teaches graduate courses in UD’s Classical Education program. He recently moved to a small homestead in Pennsylvania with his wife and their five children and a menagerie of farm animals. He has published on Jane Austen, Robert Herrick, and the Pearl-poet, but most of his current writing is related to what he calls the marriage of the academic and agrarian, the manual and the liberal arts.
