Biography
Jesse Raber holds a Ph.D. in English from Harvard University and has taught at several universities in the Chicago area, including UIC, SAIC, and Loyola, while also serving as head instructor at the Harvard Extension School’s online Poetry in American program. His first book, Progressivism’s Education: The Bildungsroman and the Struggle for the American School, 1890-1920, examined the interplay between novelists and education reformers, while his current research project is tentatively titled Magnitude and Bond: A New Literary History of Chicago. He co-created the Chicago Writers gallery at the American Writers Museum and has spoken about the city’s literary history in a variety of venues.
