Biography
Constance Filling is a seasoned educator with more than thirty-five years of leadership experience building and sustaining highly effective professional development capabilities, teams, and learning functions in commercial, academic, and mission-based organizations. Prior to her retirement in 2025, she served as Chief Learning Officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges. She has also served in senior education leadership roles for medical specialty societies. Prior to her work with mission-based organizations, Constance served as a partner in Arthur Andersen’s Center for Professional Development.
Constance is a passionate and persuasive advocate for creating learning pathways that facilitate the ongoing growth of individuals throughout their lives, especially through engagement with the arts. Her current work is focused on collaborating with other arts advocates to foster communities that inspire joy, understanding, creativity, and growth for all ages.
As an education professional, Constance served as Chair of the Association of Talent Development, and as the first public trustee for the American Board of Pathology. In addition to serving as a member of the Graham School Advisory Council, she currently serves on the Dean’s Council at the Washington National Cathedral and as a member of the Blue Ridge Care Advisory Council on Education and Innovation.
Constance earned her BSS from Cornell College, her MA from the University of Chicago, and, her MEd and EdD from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. She recently completed the Leadership & Society Initiative (LSI) Fellowship at the University of Chicago.
