Biography
I was born and grew up in Moscow. I defended my PhD thesis on a noble family of the 19th century at the Institute of Russian History of the Academy of Sciences. The publishing house New Literary Review published my book on this topic in 2017. I used to teach Russian history at the Russian State University for the Humanities. I translated 2 books on Russian history from English into Russian (Russell E. Martin A Bride for the Tsar: bride-shows and marriage politics in early modern Russia; Patrick O’Meara The Russian Nobility in the Age of Alexander I). After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, my husband and I strongly opposed the war and left Russia. Through the Scholars at Risk program, I teach Russian and Alaskan history at the University of Chicago for the second year.
