Pope Francis’ Care for our Common Home has been hailed as one of the most important and most incisive religious statement on our global ecological crises. Pope Francis (Jorge Bergoglio) was elected the first pope from the New World and southern hemisphere in 2013. Taking the name ‘Francis,’ he soon published Laudato si’ or Care for our Common Home (2015) arguing that the spirituality of St Francis of Assisi represents a path to counter present ecological crises as well as the perspective by which to diagnose the root of our ecological problems. Francis’ Care presents a subtle and multi-faceted case of our global situation, including his diagnosis of the ‘Technocratic Paradigm’ and points for wholesome ways to respond and overcome it through the spirituality of St Francis of Assisi.
