James Joyce's collection of short stories, Dubliners, and his semi-autobiographical first novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, will serve us as an introduction to a three-quarter treatment of Ulysses in 2024-2025. Special attention will be paid in this class to those features of Joyce’s prose style and narrative interest that will so characterize the experience of reading Ulysses.
