Biography

For nearly 20 years, Sarah has served as a fundraiser, grant writer, and strategy partner for some of Chicago’s most prominent not-for-profits. Her experience includes the arts, arts education, social justice, health and human services, and nearly six years of advancement work at the University of Chicago in the Oriental Institute (ISAC) and Alumni Relations. In her current role at Chicago’s community foundation, The Chicago Community Trust, she facilitates philanthropic services in support of organizations across Chicago and beyond. She enjoys a second career as a Chicago-area actress and vocalist, performing on some of the largest and smallest local stages including Symphony Center, Lyric’s Civic Opera House, Auditorium Theatre, and numerous Chicago “black box” venues. Originally from Baltimore, Sarah holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Classical & Near Eastern Studies and Musical Theatre from the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies at the University of Redlands, an alternative education program that secured her life-long love of the liberal arts.
