Ellen Bell is the Director, Higher Performance Buildings at Elevate, a nonprofit organization that designs and implements programs that bring clean and affordable heat, power, and water to homes and communities. In this role, Ellen manages Elevate’s High Performance Buildings program, which offers tailored services to multi-family and nonprofit property owners, managers, and developers to meet their property and portfolio performance and sustainability goals. Through an integrated approach, the HPB team provides an understanding of a property’s current performance and implement solutions to reduce energy and water use, electrify systems, install renewables, improve building health and resilience, and lower operating costs. Ellen is focused on delivering Elevate’s mission and services to affordable and high-performance building advocates and owners nationally while helping to develop Elevate’s strategic direction, cultivate partnerships, and coordinate new projects.  

Before joining Elevate, Ellen was at Environmental Defense Fund where she worked on energy efficiency and advanced energy management in the built environment and focused on helping to develop opportunities and approaches that supported all buildings as they accessed the benefits of a clean, sustainable and equitable energy economy. Before EDF she worked in industrial sustainability for a McDonald's supplier and as a legislative aide to a Chicago alderman
