Make your dialogue work for you. Through a combination of discussion, in class writing, lecture, short readings and exercises, this session will give you the basic tools you need to use dialogue, as well as get you thinking about more advanced techniques. The instructor will cover topics such as tags, pacing, text vs subtext, how to write group scenes without sounding like a sportscaster, action as a tool for characterization, the pros and cons of attention-grabbing tags, and how to determine whether dialogue needs to exist at all. Please come prepared prepared to offer your thoughts and write in class.
