Poetry Chapbook Workshop

Cost
625.00

This course was available in the past and may be presented again as part of the Open Enrollment curriculum.

Have you started collecting your poems into a chapbook-length manuscript, or are you looking for extra motivation to do so? Are you seeking a supportive community of writers that can inspire you, give you feedback on manuscript structure, and help you reflect on your themes—both the obvious and those bubbling under the surface? Then this is the workshop for you! By reading published chapbooks and workshopping student manuscript drafts, we'll share ideas about sequencing, through lines, what makes a powerful first and last poem, and more. Plan to share a chapbook draft of at least ten pages of poetry in the first few weeks of the course; after eight weeks, this document will expand, find its shape and rhythm, and evolve into a short poetry collection that's ready to be shared with the world—or a small circle of friends. To that end, we’ll also discuss how to submit your manuscript for publication and how to self-publish a chapbook.
