Reckoning with Confusing Art

Cost
465.00

This course was available in the past and may be presented again as part of the Open Enrollment curriculum.

We have all seen artwork that left us feeling perplexed. In this course, students will investigate a range of avant-garde art that confronts not only its viewers but also the art world itself. Throughout this exploration, students will build a theoretical and visual vocabulary that will inform their critical perspectives, challenging each other's views as we go. Both students who are new to art and those who aren't will be accommodated and challenged in this course. The course encourages students to explore their own insecurities toward art as well as integrate their experiences and expertise. In this way, students with a broad range of artistic backgrounds and skill levels will work together, learning how to think like an avant-garde artist along the way.
