From 1300 to 1600, arts and architecture flourished, with many enduring works—like The Birth of Venus, Mona Lisa, and David—emerging from innovative painters and sculptors in Italy. In this course, students will examine masterpieces from this extraordinary period in time—and learn about the celebrated artists who created them, including Giotto, Duccio, Ghiberti, Donatello, Masaccio, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian. New students are welcome; previous quarters are not required.
