About the Event

What if caring for an aging parent, spouse, or partner were less about doing things for them and more about partnering with them?

Join us for a conversation with renowned gerontologist Dr. Kerry Burnight, as we explore what it means to reimagine caregiving as a relationship built on dignity, autonomy, and connection.

This conversation examines some of the hardest questions families face. Caregiving can begin gradually, as a loved one needs a little more help with appointments, finances, or decisions at home, or it can arrive overnight. Dr. Burnight discusses when to step in, how to talk about concerns when family members disagree, and how to honor a loved one’s desire to remain independent while addressing safety.

The event offers a glimpse into Dr. Burnight’s upcoming Graham School course Reimagining Caregiving: Supporting Aging Parents, Partners, and Spouses. Whether you are caring for someone now or preparing for the responsibilities ahead, the conversation invites you to think differently about what it means to care, and to build a partnership that promotes not only healthspan, but also joyspan, for both of you.

Gerontologist, Dr. Kerry Burnight, is sparking a global revolution to make older better.

Fed up with the fear-driven, anti-aging hysteria, millions of people turn to “Dr. Kerry” for her proven approach to navigating longevity. This approach is based upon a profound truth: the key to good longevity isn’t the length of your life, it’s the quality of your life. Efforts to maximize lifespan and even healthspan don’t address the whole picture. Longevity is meaningless if you don’t like your life. In her New York Times Best-seller, Burnight introduced the critical concept, joyspan, based on the science of well-being, contentment, connection, meaning, growth, choice, and purpose.

Dr. Burnight taught Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology for 18 years at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, where she co-founded and directed the nation’s first Elder Abuse Forensic Center. Burnight’s work has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, Time Magazine, CBS Mornings, Oprah Daily, CNN, and BBC News. She is the longevity health advisor at Forbes Health and 2026 in the TIME Health Top 100.
