After decades as a business journalist and media executive, Eric Schurenberg is using his experience to help examine news bias and to restore faith in journalism. The founder of Alliance for Trust in Media, he is dedicating his time and knowledge to address misinformation.

Eric has helped guide The Alliance’s mission to assist news audiences in discerning what is true while also supporting journalists in winning back their audiences’ trust. As the executive director, Eric is energized by using his experience to cultivate an environment of mutual respect and understanding.

“…Perspective, understanding, wisdom, that’s what the times call for.” – Eric Schurenberg

In this election year, voters are inundated by news and commentary--some of it trustworthy, much of it not. This sometimes chaotic and polarized news environment raises the question: “How does anyone know what is true anymore?” Eric will help lifelong learners at the Graham School answer this question in his fascinating course titled “Truth, Disinformation, and the Media in this Year’s Election.”

Having previously curated symposia on democracy and disinformation at the university, Eric joins us this autumn to teach his highly anticipated course encouraging students to build community while learning how to think critically about the news in a year of heightened passion and noise. This course is open to all, but space is limited. Register before September 3 to reserve your spot.
